High-Speed Traffic Stop Leads to Court Summons
A British Columbia motorist faces multiple charges after allegedly traveling at 117 km/h in a residential zone with a 50 km/h speed limit. The incident occurred on Aero Drive Northeast last Friday when authorities observed a Dodge Ram pickup truck passing two vehicles on the single-lane roadway.
Dangerous Driving Conditions Documented
Law enforcement officials confirmed the driver exceeded the posted limit by more than double while executing unsafe passes. “The driver put himself, his passenger, and others at significant risk,” authorities stated. The motorist received mandatory court summonses for speeding and improper overtaking.
Recent Spike in Extreme Speeding Cases
This incident follows two other high-profile traffic stops within the past week. Police previously intercepted vehicles traveling at 177 km/h in a 100 km/h zone and 138 km/h in an 80 km/h section along Calgary’s Stoney Trail ring road.
Road Safety Concerns Heightened
Traffic analysts have raised concerns following confirmation of 38 roadway fatalities within city limits this year. “Everyone shares responsibility for maintaining safe conditions,” transportation officials emphasized. “Reducing speeds and exercising patience could prevent further tragedies.”
