Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, 56, sees his prison release date shifted forward by six weeks. The new date is April 25, 2028, down from the original June 4, 2028.
Rehabilitation Program Credits Early Release
Combs entered a federal drug rehabilitation program last November, qualifying him for the sentence reduction. He serves his time at the low-security FCI Fort Dix facility in New Jersey while appealing his four-year sentence for prostitution-related convictions.
Prior Setbacks and Denied Infractions
Combs’ release date previously moved back from May 8 to June 4, 2028, after early issues following his October 30 transfer. Reports claim he consumed a fermented mix of Fanta, sugar, and apples, resembling moonshine, and made an unauthorized three-way call on November 3.
Prison records indicate Combs added an unknown male to a call with a woman, violating rules that limit calls to approved contacts to prevent criminal coordination. Combs maintains he spoke with his lawyer and a communications specialist reviewing a statement.
His representatives deny all violations. ‘The rumors claiming Mr. Combs was caught with alcohol are completely false,’ a statement on his X account reads. ‘His only focus is becoming the best version of himself and returning to his family.’
A spokesperson adds, ‘He has not violated any prison rules and is focused on keeping clean. His sobriety and self-discipline are priorities, and he is taking them seriously.’ They note this was his first week at the facility and urge privacy for his growth.
Active Role in Residential Drug Abuse Program
Combs participates in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP), a rare assignment for new inmates. His lawyers petitioned the judge, citing his past drug use as a factor in his ‘freak off’ parties. In a pre-sentencing letter, Combs wrote he is ‘now sober for the first time in 25 years’ and works on drug abuse and anger issues.
‘Mr. Combs is an active participant in RDAP and has taken his rehabilitation process seriously from the start,’ his spokesperson states. ‘He is fully engaged, focused on growth, and committed to positive change.’
Sentence and Conviction Details
A federal jury convicted Combs on two prostitution counts after an eight-week trial in July but acquitted him on sex trafficking and racketeering. Judge Arun Subramanian imposed the four-year term plus five years of supervised release, stressing deterrence and expressing doubt about preventing future crimes.
The judge highlighted Combs’ ‘savage’ abuse of ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and the irreparable harm to victims.
