Two GTA Men Face Charges in $800K Fake Contractor Fraud Case

Authorities in Peel Region have arrested two men from the Greater Toronto Area in connection with a fraudulent contracting scheme that defrauded victims of $800,000. The operation involved a fictitious company called A&E Contractors, which targeted residents in Brampton and Mississauga.

Investigation Uncovers Sham Business

The probe began in July 2024 after initial complaints surfaced about the company’s activities. Investigators determined that A&E Contractors lacked any valid business operations, physical location, or official corporate registration, confirming it as a complete sham designed to exploit homeowners.

Arrests and Charges

Peel Regional Police apprehended 66-year-old Timothy Carter, who had been sought since July 2025. Carter faces multiple charges, including uttering threats, assault, assault with a weapon, and two counts of fraud exceeding $5,000 each.

In a related development, 55-year-old Marco Maggisano from Vaughan was also taken into custody. He has been charged with fraud over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, and money laundering from proceeds of crime within Canada.

Call for Additional Victims

Officials believe more individuals may have fallen victim to the scheme and encourage anyone with information to contact investigators at 905-453-2121, extension 2133, to come forward and assist in the ongoing case.
