Jedward star John Grimes has sparked fury among Celebrity Ex On The Beach producers by revealing a major storyline twist before the show’s premiere. The TV personality appears in the new Paramount+ series, set to air on March 31, but fans now know the outcome of his arc after he confirmed his rekindled romance with ex-girlfriend Sarah Carragher on Instagram.

In the trailer, John and Sarah share a passionate kiss in Tenerife, leaving their reunion on a cliffhanger. However, John posted photos of the couple in front of Tower Bridge at the show’s launch party. He captioned the images: ‘Here’s to a new chapter and making memories with the best girl xxx.’
This move has eliminated the suspense around his storyline, rendering it predictable for viewers.
Producers’ Frustration
Sources close to production indicate that John’s post arrived at a critical time. ‘Posting that he’s back with his ex was terrible timing as it makes his whole storyline on the show pointless,’ one source states. ‘Cast were asked to keep a bit of mystery around who got back with their ex and who hooked up with who so people tune in, but clearly John was so thrilled he just went ahead and posted without thinking.’
Producers remain upset, though the reveal appears unintentional.
John Opens Up on Rekindled Romance
Reflecting on reuniting with Sarah during filming, John describes it as a positive experience. ‘It was a really good feeling because we always got along even after we weren’t together,’ he says. ‘She has tried dating different people and so did I, but then at the same time you don’t know all you had until they’re gone.’
He credits the show with helping them address past regrets. ‘I know it’s a classic saying, but then you realise that she’s come all the way out here [to Tenerife] and she’s taken time off work to be here, so that speaks volumes for me.’
John adds a lighthearted note: ‘I’m sure a lot of my exes have regrets for not doing enough to keep me around, you know, I’m a keeper.’ He explains that the experience allowed them to approach the relationship differently, now in a new life stage.
John’s Dating Life Highlights
John and twin brother Edward rose to fame on The X Factor in 2009, finishing sixth under Louis Walsh’s mentorship. While keeping personal matters private, John shares memorable dates, including a spontaneous Beyoncé concert in Amsterdam. ‘It was very last minute and we enjoyed Beyoncé and we flew in the plane there and it was so much fun,’ he recalls.
He admits to sliding into DMs but sometimes unsending messages after being ghosted. Despite their closeness, the twins avoid double dates. ‘You can only go so far with your brother there,’ John jokes. ‘When it comes to dating and stuff we go that alone, but you know we have chats about it and see how it went.’
