Lewis Hamilton’s production of the F1 movie secured an Academy Award for Best Sound at the Oscars, despite the Ferrari driver’s absence from the Hollywood event.

Oscar Nominations and Triumph

The high-octane film, starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, earned nominations in four categories: Best Picture, Best Film Editing, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects. It claimed victory in Best Sound, with the acceptance speech giving a special mention to Hamilton.

Released in June 2025, the movie has shattered records as the highest-grossing sports film, surpassing $630 million worldwide. Its accolades include a recent Grammy for Chris Stapleton’s ‘Bad As I Used To Be’ and a BAFTA for Best Sound.

Hamilton’s Racing Commitment Prevails

Hamilton, who co-produced the film and appeared in a cameo, skipped the Los Angeles ceremony due to the Chinese Grand Prix. He finished third in Shanghai, behind winner Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, securing his first Ferrari podium on his 26th attempt.

The 12.5-hour flight from Shanghai to LA, combined with a 15-hour time difference, made attendance impossible. Hamilton explored all options to make the trip but prioritized the race.

Rumored Romance with Kim Kardashian

Speculation links Hamilton to Kim Kardashian, with sightings fueling rumors of a private relationship. Neither has confirmed the connection publicly.

Rumors emerged in late January when they arrived together at the luxury Estelle Manor hotel in the Cotswolds with a motorcade. In early February, they attended the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, appearing close in the stands. Kardashian, a regular at the Oscars, might have joined Hamilton on the red carpet had his schedule allowed.
