Michael Carrick’s Manchester United side takes an extended break after a 2-1 loss to Newcastle United. The team missed FA Cup action this weekend following their January knockout by Brighton.

Carrick recorded his first defeat from the dugout during last week’s trip to St. James’ Park. A late strike from William Osula secured the victory for the hosts.

Upcoming Clash with Aston Villa

Next up, United faces top-four rival Aston Villa. Marcus Rashford spent half of last season on loan at Villa Park.

The England international excels at Barcelona after moving there on loan last summer. He has scored 10 goals and delivered 13 assists across all competitions this season.

Barcelona anticipates activating the £26 million purchase option in Rashford’s deal, or negotiating a lower fee for a permanent transfer.

Reports indicate United has shortlisted five potential replacements. The club monitors RB Leipzig defender Yan Diomande and Como 1907’s Jesus Rodriguez. Strasbourg winger Martial Godo also draws attention.

Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye provides direct running and Premier League experience. Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola emerges as a top target.

Robson Urges Casemiro Stay Amid Contract Standoff

Casemiro appears set to leave at season’s end. The Brazilian’s contract expires this summer, and the club confirms no extension.

Recent standout performances from the 34-year-old prompt calls for a reversal. United legend Bryan Robson encourages Casemiro to remain.

Bryan Robson stated: “I would encourage Casemiro to stay. He’s had a really good season this year. He’s a top player. He’s got a great football brain. He’s a really good passer of the ball. He heads the ball well and when he goes in to tackle, he means it. You don’t stay at Real Madrid for the amount of years he did and win Champions League titles if you’re not an absolute top player. People see what you’re really good at. So I think next season he could definitely give us a little bit more with his experience. He was great in Europe last year too.”
