Poland’s National Center for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) successfully blocked a cyberattack aimed at its IT systems, ensuring no disruptions to operations.
Incident Details and Response
The research institution detected and neutralized the intrusion attempt on its infrastructure. All security measures functioned as designed, preventing any compromise and maintaining seamless operations.
“No production, operational or research processes were disrupted, and the MARIA reactor operates safely and without disruptions, at full power,” stated Prof. Jakub Kupecki, Director of the NCBJ.
The NCBJ reported the incident to authorities and heightened its defenses. “The National Center for Nuclear Research remains fully prepared to respond to any attempts to breach the digital security and critical infrastructure,” officials confirmed.
Suspected Attack Origins
Early investigations suggest links to Iran. “The first identifications of the entry vectors, i.e., those places from which the center was attacked, are related to Iran,” said Minister for Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski in an interview with TVN24+.
“When there is final information and the services will check it, we will verify it, but there are many indications that it took place on the territory of Iran.”
However, analysts note the possibility of a false flag operation, urging caution until full verification.
