Two men face second-degree murder charges after a 33-year-old man died from injuries sustained in an early morning assault in northern Manitoba. Police continue their search for a third suspect.
Details of the Assault
Officers responded to reports of an assault at a residence on Connaught Avenue in The Pas around 2:15 a.m. on February 27. They discovered the victim, a resident of the nearby Opaskwayak Cree Nation, suffering from life-threatening injuries. Paramedics transported him to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds.
Suspects and Charges
A 22-year-old man from Saskatoon and a 32-year-old man from Thompson, Manitoba, stand charged with second-degree murder. Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Draven Lester Mercredi, 30, of The Pas. Mercredi also maintains connections to Moose Lake and Thompson.
