One of three men charged in connection with extortion-related shootings in Surrey, B.C., last November remains at large, with authorities issuing a Canada-wide immigration warrant for his arrest.

Details of the Charges

Jagdeep Singh, 24, faces charges of unlawfully discharging a firearm and extortion tied to two incidents at a home in the 17000-block of 32 Avenue. The shootings occurred within five days in November 2025. No injuries were reported in either event.

Two other suspects, Avtar Singh, 22, and Sandeep Singh, 28—all foreign nationals—are currently in custody on the same charges.

Suspect’s Recent Movements

Authorities report that Jagdeep Singh’s whereabouts are unknown. The Canada Border Services Agency seeks him on an immigration warrant. Parkland RCMP in Alberta noted his arrest on November 17, 2025, while traveling through Red Deer. Officers released him pending further investigation after seizing a firearm during a related search.

Forensic testing linked the firearm to seven unrelated shootings across Canada. Investigators connected Singh to extortions targeting the South Asian community and additional shootings at a Parkland County residence west of Edmonton.

Rising Extortion Concerns in Surrey

B.C.’s provincial extortion task force announced the charges amid a surge in cases. Officials state the violence primarily affects the South Asian community and business owners in the Lower Mainland.

Surrey Police Service reports over 50 extortion investigations since the start of the year, with at least 34 cases in January alone. Community members express growing fear and frustration over the ongoing threat despite increased policing efforts.
