Influencer Tammy Hembrow, 31, developed an unexpected close connection with double-amputee shark attack survivor Paul de Gelder while filming the new Channel Nine series Shark! in the Bahamas. Insiders noted the chemistry drew attention from cast and crew alike.
Details of the Upcoming Shark-Facing Show
The series challenges Australian celebrities to confront their fear of sharks. Tammy stars alongside The Block host Scott Cam, NRL legend Sam Thaiday, former NRL player and actor Matt Nable, Home & Away star Lynne McGranger, and Olympic swimmer Ariarne Titmus. Paul, 47, a former Navy clearance diver, co-hosts with shark conservationist Annie Guttridge.
Paul lost his right hand and leg in a 2009 bull shark attack in Sydney Harbour.
On-Set Sparks Fly During Filming
Production took place in late November and early December 2025. While the show delivers thrilling shark encounters, the atmosphere reportedly mirrored a reality dating show. Sparks ignited between Tammy and Paul during off-camera moments, featuring laughter and open flirting.
Insiders confirm the pair’s confident personalities fueled noticeable tension. “People definitely noticed the chemistry. There was a lot of laughter, a lot of flirting… it wasn’t exactly subtle,” one production source observed.
The pairing surprised executives and crew. “It wasn’t something anyone expected,” the source added. “You’ve got two very different personalities, both very confident. It created a bit of a moment on set.”
“Channel Nine didn’t see that one coming,” the insider noted. “It definitely raised a few eyebrows.”
A Tropical Romance That Faded
The Bahamas connection appears to have been a fleeting paradise romance. “There’s something about being away, in that kind of environment,” the source explained. “People let their guard down.”
This fling preceded Tammy’s public relationship launch with aspiring model Grayson Te Moana, 23, in February. The couple debuted at the Australian premiere of Wuthering Heights in Sydney. Grayson, with 4,300 Instagram followers, recently faced claims of a prior serious relationship with Jemma Hammett.
Jemma’s sister, Amelia, expressed concern: “I only care about my baby sister in this whole ordeal, as most people would. Personally, I think that for this to be so publicised is embarrassing. How did he not see this unravelling the way it has? It’s exactly what he has so badly wanted but in the absolute wrong way.” She spoke out to protect other young women.
Grayson denied the allegations: “Just to clear things up, the narrative being shared about me online isn’t accurate. I haven’t been in a relationship of any kind for over three years. The claims circulating are simply false.”
