Top 10 Counties for Mobile Speed Cameras
Derbyshire tops the list with 200 potential sites, followed closely by Lancashire at 195. Wiltshire ranks third with 186 zones, Essex has 170, and Norfolk counts 143. Other leading counties include:
- Hampshire: 140 sites
- Warwickshire: 134 sites
- Devon: 119 sites
- Staffordshire: 114 sites
- Leicestershire: 112 sites

Pop-Up Locations and Driver Risks
Mobile speed camera vans operate from unpredictable spots like lay-bys, bridges, village gateways, and roadside verges. These setups often surprise motorists, leading to fines and penalty points.
Speeding convictions typically result in a minimum £100 fine and three points on the license. Serious violations carry steeper penalties, and drivers with prior points risk disqualification.
