Vicky Pattison receives widespread support after discussing the abuse she faced for sharing her plans to freeze her eggs and start a family in the future.

Background on Egg Freezing Choice

In 2022, the former Geordie Shore star opted to freeze her eggs, citing her awareness of her biological clock and the societal pressures on women to plan families early. She explained that it was not yet the right time for children but wanted to preserve her options.

Family Plans and New Documentary

Vicky, married to Ercan Ramadan since 2024 after ceremonies in London and Italy, met her husband through mutual friends in 2019. The couple now documents their family journey in the E4 series Vicky Pattison: Maybe, Baby?, exploring the realities and pressures of deciding on parenthood.

Recent TV Appearance

On March 31, Vicky and Ercan appeared on This Morning with hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary. They addressed their uncertainties about having children and the backlash Vicky encountered over her egg freezing decision.

Vicky stated: “Three, four years ago when Ercan and I’s relationship was in its infancy, hadn’t been together that long, we were still getting to know each other and we wanted to give our relationship a chance to develop and see what was there before we rushed our timeline and had kids. That was our choice.”

She continued: “But, I was also aware of this ticking biological body clock, the pressure that’s put on you by society to have it all figured out as a woman. We thought we’d do the responsible thing, and privileged thing, and freeze my eggs. We were really excited.”

Call for Open Conversations

Vicky emphasized the stigma around alternative fertility paths. She said: “I do understand, like, I look forward to the day that egg freezing is more affordable and more accessible for everybody and stuff like that. But I think there is an awful lot of stigma and shame surrounding alternative fertility journeys, because I don’t think they’re discussed enough.”

“And they’re not discussed enough because when people do talk about it, when women do stick their heads above the parapet, they are met, like in my case, abuse. So I think it’s really important that we do continue to have these conversations, whether that be about adoption, about surrogacy, about egg freezing, IVF, remaining child-free, whatever it is, in the hopes that the more sunlight these conversations get, it’ll help people foster empathy and there’ll be less judgement.”
