James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, has firmly rejected recent casting rumors for the upcoming DCU film Man of Tomorrow, the new Superman movie. He described the speculation about auditions for a key role as “shoddy and incorrect” and outright “bulls**t” in a Threads post on April 8.

Gunn Addresses Maxima Rumors

Rumors suggested that actors Adria Arjona from Andor, Sydney Chandler from Alien: Earth, Eva De Dominici from The Cleaning Lady, and Grace Van Patten from Tell Me Lies had tested for the role of Maxima, the queen of Almerac and a potential love interest for Superman in DC comics.

Gunn clarified his stance, stating, “This reporting is shoddy & incorrect. I’ve always thought it was pretty thorough, but that’s not the case here, so I’m frankly disappointed.” He added, “If someone would have run these names by us we would have said it’s bulls**t.” Gunn noted his long friendship with Arjona since casting her in The Belko Experiment and that he is a fan of Marisa and Ella but has never met them.

He emphasized that he was not confirming Maxima’s inclusion in the film when responding to fan questions.

Cast Updates from Gunn

Fans pressed Gunn for more details on the Man of Tomorrow cast. He revealed that “every major role” is already filled, with “one left” to finalize before the roster is complete.
