Joel Caine, a well-known rugby league broadcaster, posted a heartfelt message on X revealing his struggles. “Hey Rock solids, just want to be upfront and honest,” Caine wrote. “We aren’t robots. My turn right now. Struggling. Never thought it would be me, but it is. Anyone feeling like me, I’m sending you a BIG CUDDLE. I’m good but need some time. Back soon on @GetEmOnside_SB & @JoelFletchSEN.”

Widespread Support from Fans

Rugby league fans rally around Caine with messages of encouragement. One supporter wrote, “Head up, mate. Plenty of people ready to walk with you. The tide will turn, mate. Take care.” Another added, “Take care, mate. Remember the important things in life – family, friends and smiling. Things are never as bad as they seem.”

Additional fans offered, “All the best, mate. You’ve got a great family and friends to support you through this,” and “Everyone deserves peace and happiness. Hope you find yours, mate.”

Caine’s Rugby League Career and Media Rise

The 47-year-old played 97 NRL matches, including 94 for Balmain or Wests Tigers, where he scored 526 points across 75 games for the club. After retiring, Caine transitioned into media, becoming a familiar face on Channel Nine as a Sportsbet presenter. He has called games on 2GB’s Continuous Call Team and co-hosts SEN’s The Run Home with Roosters legend Bryan Fletcher.

Network Backs Caine’s Decision

Caine pauses his hosting role on SEN 1170am and SENQ 693am. Network CEO Craig Hutchison states, “Joel is a much-loved on- and off-air figure on the SEN 1170am and SENQ 693am airwaves. He has made the strong decision to focus on his health for a period of time, and we respect the courage and honesty it takes to speak up, seek support and take a break. We’ll continue to work with our mate Joel to support him throughout this period.”
