West Midlands Police has requested a licence review for the Bulls Head pub in Oldbury following a double stabbing incident earlier this month. The pub, located on Birchfield Lane, faces scrutiny from Sandwell Council’s licensing committee due to serious crime and disorder. The committee holds authority to suspend or revoke the venue’s licence.

Details of the Stabbing Incident

On March 1, 2026, in the early hours, two men in their 20s and 30s suffered stab wounds at or near the pub. Paramedics reported one victim stabbed in the chest, with the second found nearby. Both men received hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities arrested five individuals in connection with the event: a 22-year-old man on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of Class B drugs; a 38-year-old man on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of Class A drugs; two women aged 34 and 44 on suspicion of violent disorder; and a 34-year-old man on suspicion of violent disorder.

Police Grounds for Review

In the application submitted to Sandwell Council, West Midlands Police detailed the response to the incident. Officers noted: “On 1st March 2026, West Midlands Police were contacted by West Midlands Ambulance Service about a report of a person stabbed in the chest at the [Bulls Head]. A further report was received of a second person stabbing victim nearby. Officers were deployed to the scene and found the second injured person. Officers have confirmed this person was also at the public house previously. As a result of the incident, officers crimed two section 18 wounding with intent under the Offences against the Person Act 1861.”

A senior police officer highlighted that serious crime and serious disorder occurred at the venue, prompting the call for regulatory action.
