Sony Purges PS5 Store: Fake Uncharted, Jesus Games Removed

Sony continues its crackdown on low-quality and misleading games in the PlayStation Store, removing hundreds over the weekend and thousands this year. However, some titles evade full elimination through quick changes.

Persistent Fake Uncharted Clone

One example, 28 Floors: Outbreak from publisher Witenovastudio OÜ, initially featured key art with a character resembling Nathan Drake from Uncharted. Developers swapped it for a generic soldier image shortly after the purge began. Screenshots suggest a Resident Evil-style outbreak game, though their authenticity remains unclear.

Jesus Simulator Successor Emerges

Sony removed Jesus Simulator, but a replacement titled Jesus: The Journey quickly appeared. This game portrays Jesus as a superhero flying over a modern city with laser-beam eyes, repurposed from an earlier concept to capitalize on seasonal interest.

Broad Store Cleanup

The purge targeted entire catalogs from publishers like VRCForge, Welding Byte, and GoGame. Sony reviews submissions for offensive or explicit content, yet misleading rip-offs and shovelware often slip through initially. Common traits include suspiciously low prices, deceptive screenshots, and names mimicking popular titles.

Examples of Shovelware

Titles like Supermarket CEO Simulator, Water Blast Shooter – Wet Gun, Card Shop Game Store: TCG Simulator, and Watermelon Fruits Puzzle highlight the issue. Buyers risk subpar experiences despite the low cost.

Questions persist about prevention measures, as platforms struggle to filter these games before listing.
