A three-year-old girl has died following a tragic hit-and-run incident in Baltimore, Maryland. The incident occurred on June 20 when the child, identified as Jordan Bright, was struck by a vehicle at an intersection. The driver of the car, a 14-year-old boy, was reportedly joyriding in his family’s stolen vehicle at the time of the collision.

Fatal Collision and Immediate Aftermath

Reports indicate that Jordan Bright sustained severe injuries at the scene and was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after the crash. Eyewitnesses described the sound of the impact as being akin to “two cars colliding together.” One witness, Gloria Boyce, recounted seeing the child’s mother on the sidewalk holding her child, who appeared lifeless, while her other three children screamed in distress. Boyce stated, “I tried to help her other babies, you know, try to keep them together because they were screaming. They were traumatized.”

Police confirmed that the 14-year-old driver fled the scene but was apprehended later the same day. The vehicle involved in the fatal collision was located after the teenager’s family reported it stolen shortly before the incident. Authorities are currently working with the state’s attorney to determine the charges the juvenile will face.

Community Mourns a Bright Future Lost

Tributes have poured in for Jordan Bright, with a GoFundMe page established by her family describing her as a “precious child with a bright future ahead of her.” The family’s statement expressed the profound grief of losing her so soon, stating, “She should have had countless more birthdays to celebrate, first days of school to experience, dreams to pursue, and memories to create with those who loved her.” They added, “Instead, her mother, father, siblings, and loved ones are now facing the unimaginable pain of saying goodbye far too soon.”

Jordan’s mother, Ny Jada, shared poignant memories of her daughter on social media, posting pictures of her smiling with her siblings. In one heartbreaking post, she wrote, “It’s going to be a long life here on earth without you.” She further expressed her anguish, stating, “Every day, I wake up and see that it’s a new day, I’m broken more than the day before… Because life really not going to stop for my baby? Just like that stupid 14-year-old didn’t.”

Remembering Jordan’s Spirit

A vigil has been organized at the site where Jordan Bright was tragically struck. Pastor Stacey Bryson, who was contacted by Jordan’s mother immediately after the crash, described the sounds of “the screams and the cries of a mom who just experienced the most tragic day of her life…it was horrific.” The pastor shared that the Bright family is actively involved in Nehemia House Ministries and that Jordan was a beloved member of their church community. “She would greet you with hugs and big smiles. She always had her hair beautifully braided, and she would always make sure you saw her hair and showed off her beads. And she loved roller skating, even at three,” Pastor Bryson recalled.
