Nvidia and Superior Micro Units have agreed to present the U.S. authorities a share of revenues from sure chips bought in China, the Monetary Instances reported, in an unprecedented association with the White Home.
In trade for 15% of revenues from the chip gross sales, the 2 chipmakers will obtain export licenses to promote Nvidia’s H20 and AMD’s MI308 chips in China, in line with the FT.
The association comes as President Donald Trump’s tariffs proceed to reverberate by the worldwide economic system, underscoring the White Home’s willingness to carve out exceptions as a bargaining software.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang met with Trump final week, in line with the FT.
In a press release, Nvidia informed the Monetary Instances: “We comply with guidelines the U.S. authorities units for our participation in worldwide markets.”
Final week, Trump had stated he would implement a 100% tariff on imports of semiconductors and chips, until an organization was “constructing in the US.”
