MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have detained a 30-year-old Filipina woman at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City for attempting to bring in cocaine valued at approximately P43.42 million.

Details of the Interception

The arrest occurred late Thursday evening when the suspect, identified only by her first name Vane, arrived from Sao Paulo, Brazil, via a connecting flight from Doha, Qatar. Customs officials detected suspicious items in her luggage during routine screening procedures.

Upon closer examination, officers uncovered about 8.197 kilograms of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine hidden within her baggage. Field tests confirmed the material as the illegal drug, leading to her immediate apprehension.

The woman, an overseas Filipino worker whose specific employment abroad remains undisclosed, faces charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. She is currently in custody as investigations continue into the smuggling operation.
