Harry Hill Revealed as Red Panda in Latest Elimination
Comedian Harry Hill has been unmasked as Red Panda on the seventh series of The Masked Singer, just days before the semi-final. The ITV competition features celebrities performing in elaborate costumes while a panel of judges—Maya Jama, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan—tries to identify them through clues and performances.
In the most recent episode, Red Panda delivered a rendition of the Black Eyed Peas’ ‘I Gotta Feeling’ but failed to advance. The judges offered their final guesses: Maya Jama suggested Chris Ramsey, Davina McCall pointed to Brian Cox, Mo Gilligan named Tom Fletcher from McFly, and Jonathan Ross speculated Rufus Hound. The reveal confirmed Harry Hill, renowned for hosting TV Burp in the 2000s.
Upon unmasking, Hill joked to host Joel Dommett, ‘I’m not a natural singer—my wife heard me the other day and thought I was choking on a Pot Noodle!’ He added that he enjoyed the experience despite the challenges, saying, ‘The weird thing is, you put the thing on and you’ve got no inhibitions. The only downside is you’re breathing your own breath because it’s all trapped, and I had falafel for lunch!’
Recent Eliminations Shake Up the Competition
Last week, Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke was revealed as Arctic Fox after performing Barbra Streisand’s ‘Woman in Love.’ Though devastated by his exit, he expressed delight in participating. ‘Devastated naturally. Delighted to be able to perform but devastated to have been voted off!’ Du Beke stated.
The judge, married to Hannah Summers and father to eight-year-old twins, joined the show as a surprise for his children and a longtime fan. He noted, ‘It’s such a lovely show. And it’s been going a while. I wondered why no one ever asked me before! They have, I just haven’t had the time. It’s a great show.’
Earlier in the episode, singer Kate Nash was unveiled as Monkey Business following her performance of ‘As Long As He Needs Me’ from the musical Oliver!. She described the nerves of performing without the mask: ‘I was so nervous about it but then I got really nervous about the mask coming off. It’s like a little comfort zone—you’re not worrying about anything else when you’re in there. It was a unique experience.’
Earlier Unmaskings in the Series
The series has seen several notable reveals. Shakespeare’s Sister’s Marcella Detroit emerged as Gargoyle in the opening weeks. Before that, former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, known as Johnny Rotten, was unmasked as Yak, while rapper Professor Green appeared as Teabag.
In the premiere week, BBC’s The One Show presenter Alex Jones was revealed as Disc Jockey, a role she has held since 2010.
The Masked Singer continues to build excitement toward the final, with episodes streaming now on ITVX.
