Villa Approves Italian Move After West Brom Departure
Aston Villa winger Samuel Iling-Junior is reportedly finalizing a loan transfer to Serie A club Pisa, following the early termination of his spell at West Bromwich Albion. The 22-year-old is expected to return to Italy immediately to join the relegation-threatened side for the remainder of the season.
Mixed Championship Spell Concludes
During his initial loan at West Brom, Iling-Junior made 24 appearances across all competitions, with 14 starts. Despite scoring on his first Championship start against Leicester City in August, the young attacker struggled to maintain consistent form throughout his tenure at The Hawthorns.
Career Crossroads in Italy
The English winger originally joined Villa from Juventus in 2024 as part of a swap deal that sent Douglas Luiz to Turin, with Enzo Barrenechea also transferring to the Premier League club. Iling-Junior previously demonstrated his potential during a successful loan spell at Middlesbrough under Michael Carrick, following an underwhelming stint at Bologna.
Reports indicate Iling-Junior remains under contract with Aston Villa until 2029, with club officials viewing this loan move as crucial for his development. The temporary transfer to Pisa marks the player’s third loan assignment since joining Villa’s squad.
