Tropical Cyclone Mitchell continues its path down Western Australia’s coast, poised to make landfall tonight as a category two system near Carnarvon. Fierce winds and heavy rainfall already batter the North West coast, prompting evacuations at several mine sites.
Forecasters predict 100 to 200 millimetres of rain over the next 24 hours, raising risks of flash flooding and road closures in affected areas. Emergency warnings cover regions south of Onslow to Ningaloo, as well as Coral Bay to Minilya Roadhouse.
