Two Dead in Winnipeg West End Fire, Major Crimes Unit Investigates

A devastating fire erupted in a crowded home in Winnipeg’s west end on the 300 block of Agnes Street just before 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. First responders evaluated seven individuals at the scene and transported five to local hospitals for treatment.

Fatalities and Victim Conditions

Tragedy struck by Sunday when an 18-year-old and a 48-year-old woman succumbed to their injuries from the blaze. The remaining three victims continue to recover in stable condition.

Ongoing Investigation

Due to the fatalities, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit has assumed control of the probe to determine the fire’s cause. As of Monday, the site has become a makeshift memorial while investigators meticulously examine the scene.
