Camilla Tominey has sharply criticized Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper for declining an invitation to appear on GB News and address questions about her party.
Tominey’s On-Air Frustration
During a Sunday morning broadcast hosted by Mark White and Anne Diamond, Tominey ed her disappointment over Cooper’s absence. White remarked, “Once again the Foreign Secretary is avoiding your show—she’s frit, isn’t she?”
Tominey responded by highlighting other Labour figures who have also skipped her program. “Keir Starmer has never come on the show, Rachel Reeves has never come on the show,” she said. “I have huge admiration for those who do. If you can’t face a grilling by me on behalf of the public, then literally what is the point of you?”
She added, “We don’t know why they run scared beyond the idea that they are a little bit frightened of being Tominied on a Sunday morning.”
Public Reactions on Social Media
Viewers quickly shared their views on X, with many accusing Cooper of dodging tough questions. One user wrote, “Yvette Cooper, Foreign Secretary and certified Ninja-Level Question Dodger, has bravely REFUSED a GB News interview with Camilla Tominey. Facing Putin? Sure. Facing global crises? No problem. Facing a perfectly polite journalist asking perfectly reasonable questions on live TV? Vanishes in a puff of smoke like a startled cartoon character.”
Another commented, “They are cowards, and it shows that Camilla won’t ask soft questions and let her get away with waffle. She will ask questions Cooper would not be able to answer as she’s bl**dy clueless.”
A third noted, “Aye, if you’re in politics, you can’t shy away from a bit of heat—might as well bring a BBQ if you’re not ready for a grilling! But dodging questions just stirs the pot, isn’t it?”
Defenders countered that GB News has a limited audience. One stated, “Why should she appear on such a minuscule GREAT BRITISH NERDS TV STATION? Just look at the poor quality of the presenters!” Another pointed out, “GB News is only watched by 7% of the adults in the UK. That’s why politicians don’t bother with it.”
