Sarah Ferguson Introduces Goddaughter to Jeffrey Epstein
Emails from recently released Jeffrey Epstein files reveal that Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, provided contact information for her 22-year-old goddaughter, Poppy Cotterell, to the financier in November 2010—over a year after his release from a Florida prison for child sex crimes.
Ferguson, 63, has remained largely out of the public eye following the U.S. Department of Justice’s release of millions of Epstein documents last month. She recently appeared at a luxury wellness retreat in Zurich, Switzerland, amid scrutiny over her past ties to Epstein and her ex-husband, Prince Andrew.
Details from the Email Exchange
The correspondence, part of a massive document dump from the Epstein investigation, shows Ferguson facilitating a meeting between Epstein and Cotterell. In one email, she wrote, “Over to you! Lots of love,” while sharing the young woman’s details.
Cotterell’s late mother, Carolyn, served as a lady-in-waiting to Ferguson, fostering a close family connection.
Poppy Cotterell’s Encounter
Now 38, Cotterell works as a private psychotherapist in London and teaches yoga. She met Epstein once at his Manhattan mansion, where he offered her a position managing his art collection. Cotterell, then an intern at a New York art gallery, declined the role and never saw him again.
“In 2010 at the age of 22, I was working in New York as an intern at an art gallery when I was introduced to Mr Epstein about a possible job looking after his art collection,” Cotterell stated. “After meeting Mr Epstein he offered me a role, which I declined; I never met him again.”
She added, “I was not aware of Dr Woodson Merrell’s charity before I met Mr Epstein, did not request a donation to be made to it, and do not know if a donation was ever made.”
Proposed Charity Donation
Epstein’s assistant contacted Dr. Woodson Merrell, who ran a children’s alternative medicine charity, suggesting Cotterell meet him. Epstein considered a $100,000 donation in her name, with plans for a facility tour beforehand.
Ferguson later criticized Epstein for attempting to arrange dates for her with a 21-year-old man she had shown interest in.
Neither Ferguson nor Prince Andrew has commented publicly on these revelations. Andrew has previously denied all allegations against him.
