Jackie O’s Discreet Meeting at UK Radio Headquarters
Jackie ‘O’ Henderson made a low-profile visit to Bauer Media Audio UK’s headquarters in England last year, several months before her abrupt departure from The Kyle and Jackie O Show. Witnesses spotted the 51-year-old radio star in the ground-floor coffee shop at the Bauer facility, a major European radio player with stations like Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Radio reaching 12.4 million weekly listeners.
The trip aligned with Henderson’s European travels, including a radio conference and family holiday. While the purpose remains unclear—possibly business or personal—insiders note she might have explored overseas opportunities as tensions rose with co-host Kyle Sandilands. Both signed lucrative 10-year, $100 million contracts with Australian Radio Network (ARN) in 2023.
On-Air Clash Triggers Henderson’s Absence
Henderson has been absent from the show since February 20, following a heated on-air exchange. Sandilands, 54, criticized her for reading disgraced royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s birth chart, accusing her of lacking focus due to her interest in astrology. Henderson, visibly emotional and tearful, expressed feeling deeply offended and took leave.
Her return, initially set for March 2, was delayed a week. ARN then confirmed termination of her contract, citing her statement that she could no longer work with Sandilands after his comments.
Henderson Insists She Did Not Quit
In a statement released Friday via manager Gemma O’Neill, Henderson clarified she ‘did not quit or resign.’ She expressed being ‘deeply saddened by the possibility of the show ending’ and described her exit as ‘a shock.’ Legal experts suggest this follows advice amid concerns over her working conditions.
At Radiodays Europe in Athens last March, Henderson told British radio host John Simons she would walk away from the contract if it no longer felt authentic. ‘The older you get, it’s important that you’re staying true to yourself and that you enjoy what you do,’ she said. ‘If it doesn’t feel right, I would be prepared to walk away from that.’
Both Hosts Engage Lawyers
Sandilands has hired top lawyers to contest a breach-of-contract claim from ARN, which gave him 14 days to address the issue or face termination. He recently admitted regretting the on-air remarks: ‘I obviously upset her… I regret hurting her feelings.’ He hopes for a resolution allowing everyone to return happily.
ARN hinted at a potential alternative show for Henderson on their network.
First Public Sighting Post-Statement
Henderson emerged Monday at Sydney’s The Parlour Room beauty salon for a spray tan and possible pedicure. Dressed in all-black baggy parachute pants, a billowing tank top with gold details, open-toed sandals, and sunglasses, she appeared downcast after a week of crisis talks at her Clovelly home.
Her European trip included time in Italy with 15-year-old daughter Kitty, visiting sites like the Tower of Pisa.
