Gas prices in Metro Vancouver have surpassed $2 per litre, reaching approximately 202.9 cents per litre on Sunday. Variations occur by location across the region.

Impact of Global Conflict

The surge stems from disruptions caused by the ongoing U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran, which has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz. This vital waterway typically carries nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply, driving global fuel prices sharply higher.

Average prices in Vancouver have climbed steadily over the past few days, rising nearly 20 cents per litre since Thursday. Predictions suggest no changes for Monday.

Prices last exceeded $2 per litre in May 2024.
