Mysterious Three-Sided Pyramid on Mars Sparks Alien Theories

A massive three-sided pyramid-like structure on Mars, imaged by NASA’s Mars Global Surveyor in 2001, fuels speculation about ancient extraterrestrial builders. The geometric formation in the planet’s rugged terrain has drawn intense online debate, with researchers highlighting its unusual symmetry as potential evidence of artificial construction.

Key Discovery Details

Researcher Keith Laney identified the structure while scanning high-resolution images for anomalies. He noted, “Were this found anywhere on Earth, we’d surely be digging into it.” The pyramid appears comparable in size to Egypt’s Great Pyramid and features sharp, symmetrical edges that stand out against natural rock formations.

Filmmaker Brian Dobbs featured the structure in a documentary exploring Mars’ geological history. Dobbs stated, “On Mars, there is a three-sided pyramid the size of the Great Pyramid in Egypt.” He emphasized that while intriguing, the find does not conclusively prove past alien habitation.

Location in Valles Marineris

The formation sits in the western region of Candor Chasma, part of the vast Valles Marineris canyon system. This network spans about 10 times longer, 20 times wider, and five times deeper than Earth’s Grand Canyon, characterized by steep cliffs, landslides, and layered rock deposits.

Expert Analysis on Artificial Origins

Mars researcher George Haas analyzed the shape, explaining, “You don’t have to be a geologist to know the difference between a rock and a sculpture, something that’s geometric.” In a co-authored research paper, Haas and investigators concluded, “The structural form of this three-sided pyramid observed within the western region of Candor Chasma is real and exhibits a level of geometry and symmetry that supports a high probability of artificial origins.”

Laney, who first spotted the anomaly, affirmed Haas’s assessment, describing the pyramid as “most definitely artificial.”
