Beechdale Fencing Limited, located on Cattle Market Road in The Meadows, Nottingham, has entered liquidation, leading to the redundancy of 14 employees. Joint liquidators Michael Roome and Jamie Playford from Leading were appointed on April 8, following the company’s cessation of operations on April 2.
Long-Standing Firm Succumbs to Rising Expenses
Founded in 2008, the business manufactured fencing and garden products for 17 years before financial pressures forced its closure. Michael Roome, overseeing the asset sales and wind-down, pointed to surging overheads as a key factor.
“The company operated successfully for many years, but escalating costs for premises, materials, and labor have severely strained operations,” Roome stated. He noted ongoing volatility in raw material prices, including timber and concrete, which have risen sharply since the 2020 Covid pandemic, eroding margins in construction and landscaping.
The firm’s director also faced a serious illness in late 2025, cutting his working hours and further weakening performance.
Employment and Financial Details
The company had 14 staff at liquidation, though records for the year ending August 31, 2024, report an average workforce of 28. Creditor debts grew over that period.
