Woman Critical After Car Hits Pedestrians in Central London

A car struck multiple pedestrians in central London early Sunday morning, leaving one woman in critical condition. The incident occurred on Argyll Street in Westminster around 4:30 a.m.

Injuries and Response

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a woman in her 30s remains hospitalized in critical condition. A man in his 50s sustained life-changing injuries, while a second woman in her 30s received minor injuries.

Officers arrested the driver, a 29-year-old woman, at the scene. She faces charges including attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, and driving under the influence. Authorities state the event on this Soho street near the London Palladium theatre is not terrorism-related.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell urged potential witnesses to come forward. She stated: “As our inquiries continue, our thoughts are with those injured and their loved ones. While this incident took place in the early hours of the morning, venues in the area were still open, and we believe a number of people will have seen what happened. I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision, or any activity prior to it that they feel may be of relevance, to come forward. The information you have – however minor you believe it may be – could be of crucial importance to investigators.”
