A shirtless Alex Jones unleashed a heated rant after The Onion secured rights to lease InfoWars and relaunch it as a satire site, labeling the parody outlet as “bodysnatchers.”
Jones’ Fiery Reaction
Bare from the waist up, Jones declared on Monday: “Just because you’re wearing my shirt doesn’t mean you’re me, let’s be 100 percent clear about that.” He accused the move of defamation, stating: “The whole thing’s about defaming me. You can’t take something over and then act like you’re somebody, even if you say it’s a parody. You could do a parody of somebody, but not if you took something from them… So you guys, keep laughing, just like you did a year and a half ago.”
Jones further fumed: “This is what the left does. They try to silence you, then they misrepresent who you are. They’re bodysnatchers. They’re skin-walkers. They literally take your skin. This is gonna backfire big time folks.”
The Licensing Deal
The Onion’s parent company, Global Tetrahedron, obtained a month-to-month lease for InfoWars at $81,000 for six months, with potential renewal. The agreement awaits approval from Texas District Court Judge Maya Guerra Gamble, requested by court-appointed manager Gregory Milligan.
Upon court approval, The Onion aims to convert the platform—once notorious for misinformation—into a comedy network focused on satire, internet culture, and new creative voices.
Background on InfoWars Auction
InfoWars entered auction in 2024 following Jones’ failure to pay $1 billion in damages to Sandy Hook families for spreading false claims about the shooting. Jones filed for bankruptcy in 2022, drawing The Onion’s interest over subsequent years.
Onion’s Vision
The Onion CEO Ben Collins outlined plans to parody the site, featuring comedian Tim Heidecker portraying Jones. Collins stated: “This is about accountability, and what comes next. We’re taking something that caused real harm and turning it into something much funnier, and ideally, more useful.”
