Sky viewers who enjoy family movie marathons will notice a significant update to their channel lineup later this week. The provider is streamlining its offerings by merging Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) with Sky Cinema Family on channel 304, effective April 30.
Streamlined Family Viewing Experience
This consolidation creates a dedicated hub for family-friendly films, ensuring easier access to popular titles. Viewers can expect to find favorites like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, Smurfs, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Wicked all in one spot.
While the standalone Animation channel disappears, all its previous content transfers seamlessly to the Family channel. To support families during school breaks, Sky Cinema Animation will temporarily reactivate on specific dates: July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.
Sky Expands into Smart Home Security
Sky is also venturing into home security with new affordable devices. The Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime subscription costs £5 monthly after a £15 upfront fee. Key features include full HD video recording, instant mobile notifications, customizable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud storage.
For enhanced protection, the Smart Home Bundle with Plan+ offers £8 per month following a £20 upfront payment. This adds an indoor camera plus advanced app controls like scheduled arming and automated modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized accessibility: “Sky has focused on the features customers value most while keeping them simple to use, easy to manage, and affordable.”
