Apple CarPlay now supports AI chatbots, positioning Grok as the next major addition to this lineup.
Grok Voice Mode Placeholder Appears
The most recent Grok iPhone app includes a CarPlay placeholder. While not yet operational, it displays a clear message: “Grok Voice mode coming soon to CarPlay.” This confirms xAI’s plans to integrate the AI chatbot with Apple’s in-car system in the near future.
Extending Grok Beyond Tesla Vehicles
Grok already functions as a native feature in Tesla cars. Upcoming CarPlay support extends this advanced AI experience to virtually all other vehicles equipped with the platform.
Elon Musk’s xAI developed Grok, later acquiring X (formerly Twitter) before merging with SpaceX.
AI Chatbot Expansion on CarPlay
Grok Voice mode will join ChatGPT and Perplexity on CarPlay. Google has not announced Gemini integration, but its models power the enhanced Siri arriving in iOS 27 this year. Apple anticipates releasing a dedicated Siri app, expected to support CarPlay.
The XChat app, recently introduced, could benefit from similar CarPlay compatibility.
Grok for iOS remains available via the App Store.
