Reality TV personality James Argent has shared a heartfelt tribute to his close friend Jake Hall after his unexpected death at age 35. The former The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) star, known as Arg, posted social media footage from a photoshoot four years ago, celebrating a major weight-loss milestone.

Argent Shares Cherished Memories

Argent, 38, described Hall as his “dear mate” with “infectious energy” and “one of a kind.” He told his nearly one million followers how fortunate he felt to have the “beautiful memory” preserved.

In the caption, Argent wrote: “I’ve been processing the loss of my dear mate Jake. Watching videos, looking through photos, listening to voice notes and reading messages from our friendship. It hurts real bad.”

He recalled the photoshoot at Hall’s east London studio, using Hall’s clothing designs. “Jake was so proud of me, he organised a full shoot with a videographer/photographer,” Argent shared. Initially unsure, Argent noted Hall insisted to boost his confidence: “He did this because he wanted me to finally feel good about myself. He gave me so much confidence. He spent the day raising me up.”

“We didn’t stop laughing and had so much fun together. I’m so lucky to have this beautiful memory. Jake had infectious energy and was one of a kind. Love and miss my mate so much.”

Jake Hall’s TOWIE Legacy

Hall joined the TOWIE cast in 2015 and dated co-star Chloe Lewis before leaving the show in 2024. He also launched his own menswear brand, By Jake Hall.

Wave of Tributes from Stars

Fans, friends, and former co-stars flooded the post with support, including TOWIE alumni Billie Shepherd, Danielle Armstrong, and Ferne McCann.

Actor Ryan Thomas shared a black-and-white montage, calling Hall “always the coolest guy in the room” with “class, charisma” and a unique “magic.” He added: “His next chapter is written in the stars now and it’s all about River. I promise she’ll grow up surrounded by love and stories about how inspiring and powerful her daddy is.”

Misse Beqiri, mother of Hall’s eight-year-old daughter River, posted family photos, stating their hearts were “shattered.” She wrote: “I loved you from the very first moment I saw you. You left behind your mini version, our River, and for that we are forever grateful. You will always live on through her, and you will forever be with us.”

Other celebrities joined in: Vas J Morgan called the loss “deeply difficult,” wishing for more time together. Akin Solanke shared a photo, saying: “If I never told you how much you inspired me, I hope you knew regardless.” DJ Fat Tony posted: “Devastating news we love you @jakehall such an awful loss to the world you beautiful man x.”
