Netflix confirms that The Lincoln Lawyer, the popular legal drama starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, will wrap up after its fifth season, currently in production.
Showrunners Share Bittersweet News
Co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez released a statement expressing mixed emotions about the series finale. “All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us,” they said. “From the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion. And while it is, of course, bittersweet, it’s also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close and perhaps chart a new course for some of our characters into the future.”
Humphrey and Rodriguez added: “We promise you, we are right now building a final season that will provide the satisfying finale Mickey Haller deserves. We can’t wait to share it with you!”
Story and Cast Details
Adapted from Michael Connelly’s novels, the series follows attorney Mickey Haller, played by Garcia-Rulfo, who operates from the back seat of his Lincoln sedan. The premise previously inspired the 2011 film starring Matthew McConaughey.
The fifth season draws from Connelly’s seventh book, Resurrection Walk, and introduces Cobie Smulders as Mickey’s long-lost half-sister seeking his help to free a wrongfully convicted woman.
Returning cast includes Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, and Angus Sampson, alongside recurring stars Neve Campbell, Krista Warner, Angelica Marie, and Gigi Zumbado. New additions feature Amy Aquino, Angela Trimbur, Elpidia Carrillo, Nate Corddry, Tricia Helfer, and Keir O’Donnell.
Strong Performance and Timeline
Netflix renewed the series for its fifth and final season just before the fourth season premiered in February. That installment secured four weeks in the platform’s worldwide top 10 English-language series, accumulating over 26.4 million views.
A release date for the 10-episode final season remains unannounced.
Another Netflix Hit Bows Out
This announcement follows Netflix’s recent reveal that The Night Agent, the platform’s most-watched global series of 2023, will conclude after its fourth season. Creator Shawn Ryan stated: “Ever since the initial success of The Night Agent, I’ve been obsessed with eventually delivering a proper and thrilling conclusion to the show and to Peter Sutherland’s journey…We are hard at work to complete our story and to make our final season one our fans will never forget.”
