Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are developing a new war film for Netflix through their Archewell Productions company. They are partnering with Netflix’s scripted content head, Tracy Ryerson, to adapt the book No Way Out: The Searing True Story of Men Under Siege into a feature film.

Details of the Film Adaptation

Screenwriter Matt Charman, known for Bridge of Spies, is penning the script. The project falls under the Sussexes’ ongoing partnership with Netflix, which shifted to a first-look deal last year.

The story centers on Easy Company, a unit of Paras and Royal Irish Rangers, defending the Musa Qala District Centre in Helmand province during the Afghanistan conflict in July 2006. Led by Major Adam Jowett, the company faced intense Taliban assaults while isolated in a makeshift compound.

The book captures the chaos: Major Jowett describes the relentless heat and Taliban waves hammering the unit in their vulnerable outpost.

Prince Harry’s Military Ties

This project resonates deeply with Prince Harry, who served a decade in the military, including two Afghanistan tours—one a 10-week deployment in Helmand province. He concluded his service in 2015.

The couple has more content in development, including adaptations of Tracey Oliver’s The Wedding Date and Carley Fortune’s Meet Me at the Lake. They are also executive producing a polo-themed drama series set in Wellington, Florida’s elite equestrian scene, with scripting by Francisca X. from Teacup.
