The wife of NASCAR icon Kyle Busch has shared her grief following his sudden passing, describing the recent days as the most “heartbreaking” the family has endured.

Busch, 41, died on May 21. He was taken to the hospital after becoming unresponsive while using a race simulator near Charlotte, North Carolina. Medical professionals later determined that the married father of two had pneumonia, which progressed to sepsis. This condition led to blood clots and organ impairment before he experienced hemorrhagic shock.

Samantha Busch, his wife of 16 years and mother of his two children, posted a message on Instagram on Friday expressing her family’s gratitude for the outpouring of support.

While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God’s presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you.”
