Actress Emily Atack Sets Strict ‘No Children’ Rule for Upcoming Wedding
Actress Emily Atack has revealed a significant detail about her upcoming wedding to fiancé Alistair Garner: children will not be invited to the festivities. This decision comes despite Atack herself being a mother.
The 36-year-old star is set to marry scientist Alistair Garner, 40, in September. The celebrations are planned to span three days in Andalusia, Spain. Atack has previously shared that her wedding will draw inspiration from her role in the 1980s series ‘Rivals,’ envisioning a grand affair with a ‘huge dress and a big f**k off party.’
Atack, who shares her 23-month-old son Barney with Garner, confirmed the wedding month earlier this year. The couple became engaged in July 2025, a year after welcoming their son.
Guests Express Support for Child-Free Policy
The ‘Inbetweeners’ star has conveyed her decision to guests, stating that no children will be permitted. She admitted to being surprised by the generally positive reception to this rule.
Speaking on ‘The Romesh Ranganathan Show’ podcast, Atack commented, ‘We’re being kind to our friends and making sure that people don’t have to worry too much about paying for lots of things, but we have said no kids at the wedding, no children.’ She added, ‘I’m surprised by how many people are happy about that. I thought I’d get a lot of people kicking off, but they’re like no, ‘f*** those kids’.”
Spanish Setting for Nuptials
Sources indicated that Atack had been considering Spain as a wedding venue, a country she has visited for family holidays since childhood. Reflecting on the planning, she stated, ‘I think I’ve nailed it. We’re getting married in September. I’ve very much enjoyed the planning process.’ She further shared with Luxury London Magazine, ‘Choosing napkins and stuff. I’m like, ”My God, my life is here!”
Atack’s mother had previously alluded to the wedding taking place this year. Reports last year suggested that Emily and Alistair were exploring wedding venues in Spain. An insider at the time noted, ‘Emily has been going to Spain with her family on holiday ever since she was a child and loves the idea of getting married there. She and Alistair adore the stunning countryside there, and guaranteed sun is a bonus.’
Atack has expressed her affection for the country, saying, ‘I loved my family holidays there when I was growing up. We had a property there and my dad sold it a couple of years ago, but it’s our favourite place and we still go every year, and stay in a hotel.’
Recent Career Engagements
Emily Atack recently returned to screens with the release of the second series of the Disney+ series ‘Rivals’ on May 15, where she portrays Sarah Stratton. Additionally, Atack shared insights into her experience filming a new quiz show series alongside Danny Dyer. She revealed that her family and baby son Barney were present during filming, following a private sepsis battle after giving birth.
Discussing her time on set with Dyer for ‘The One Show,’ Atack told hosts JB Gill and Angelica Bell, ‘[Danny] makes everyone laugh, he’s brilliant. We really do have a laugh, and we did Rivals together but we don’t have many scenes together so it was really nice to get to know each other one on one. I was there with my family, I got to bring my family, and I was there with my baby and it was, well, we loved it.’
