Bystanders Halt Belfast Stabbing, Suspect Arrested

A violent stabbing incident in north Belfast saw brave bystanders intervene to subdue an attacker before police arrived. The victim has been hospitalized with serious injuries, and one man has been taken into custody.

Dramatic Intervention on Kinnaird Avenue

The incident unfolded on Kinnaird Avenue around 10:30 PM on Monday, June 8th. Disturbing video footage circulating online appears to show a man being repeatedly attacked. In the footage, two individuals are seen rushing to the aid of the injured man on the ground. They reportedly alerted arriving officers, stating, “he’s trying to cut his head off.”

Police Response and Investigation

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of the assault. A significant police presence was established in the area, with cordons put in place to secure the scene.

Authorities have confirmed the arrest of one man in connection with the stabbing. He is currently in police custody. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.

Eyewitness Accounts

An eyewitness described the scene as “chaos” that erupted following the attack. Another account detailed how three men, one reportedly armed with a hurl, managed to disarm the knife-wielding assailant and separate him from the victim.

A spokesperson for the PSNI stated that officers will continue to remain in the Kinnaird Avenue area to conduct their inquiries. Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant dash-cam or CCTV footage to come forward.
