Early access players of the tactical CRPG Solasta 2 have voiced feedback regarding its character creation system. While an improvement over its predecessor’s somewhat unnatural character models, distinguishing party members both visually and audibly proved challenging. A recent update introduces significant enhancements to the character creation process, addressing these concerns.
Detailed Character Sculpting Arrives
The latest patch introduces a suite of new tools, including a comprehensive slider system. Players can now meticulously adjust facial features such as nose bridge width and upper lip height, offering unprecedented control over character appearance. Body morphing options have also been expanded, allowing for greater customization of character musculature. For those who prefer pre-designed options, the number of available presets has been doubled.
Enhanced Audio and Visual Variety
A particularly welcomed addition is the ability to alter voice pitch. This feature directly addresses the challenge of differentiating characters when faced with a limited selection of voice options, making it easier to create a truly unique party. Further cosmetic additions, including new hairstyles and tattoos, are slated for future updates, promising even more ways to personalize characters.
Roadmap Reveals Future Content
Looking ahead, the development roadmap outlines a busy schedule for Solasta 2. The third quarter update is set to introduce multiplayer functionality and a new playable class, alongside additional world events. The fourth quarter will bring another new class, two additional ancestries, a crafting system, the commencement of act two, and an increased level cap, raising it from the current level 4 to level 6.
Initial impressions of Solasta 2 have highlighted its engaging exploration mechanics. Moving beyond the linear paths of the original, the sequel adopts a hex-crawl approach once players progress a certain point in the narrative. This design choice offers a more traditional take on the Dungeons & Dragons experience, setting it apart from other contemporary RPGs.
