King Charles and Queen Camilla have made a notable appearance at Royal Ascot for the second consecutive day, this year joined by a less frequently seen member of the royal family. On Wednesday, the royal couple was accompanied by Lady Sarah Chatto and her husband, Daniel Chatto, during the traditional carriage procession. Lady Sarah cut a striking figure in a cream-hued dress complemented by a matching wide-brimmed hat, an ensemble that bore a distinct resemblance to Queen Camilla’s attire.

Royal Family Gathering at the Races

Daniel Chatto presented a dapper appearance in a dark suit as he joined his wife for the event. Later in the day, Lady Sarah was observed sharing company with another cousin, Princess Anne, as they both focused their attention on the unfolding horse races. Lady Sarah Chatto is the daughter of the late Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones, making her a cousin to King Charles.

While she does not undertake official royal engagements, Lady Sarah occasionally participates in significant family gatherings. Her recent public appearances include attending the wedding of Peter and Harriet Phillips earlier this month. At that event, she was seen with her brother, David Armstrong-Jones, and her elder son, Samuel Chatto. Prior to that, she was among the royals who visited the British Museum to review the final designs for a memorial dedicated to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was Lady Sarah’s aunt.

A Close Bond with the Late Queen

Reports suggest that the late Queen Elizabeth II held a deep affection for Lady Sarah, allowing her niece to accompany her to her personal retreat, Craigowan Lodge, in Aberdeenshire. Their bond appeared to strengthen particularly following the passing of Princess Margaret, with whom the Queen shared a profound connection. Following the death of Prince Philip in April 2021, the Queen spent a period of mourning at her Scottish residence, Balmoral, where close family members offered support. Lady Sarah was among those who stayed with her during this time.

She also attended Prince Philip’s funeral, which was subject to strict attendance limits due to prevailing coronavirus restrictions at the time. Beyond her closeness with the late Queen, Lady Sarah also maintains a strong relationship with her eldest cousin, King Charles, having served as chief bridesmaid at his wedding to Princess Diana in 1981.
