Several prominent UK companies have entered administration this week, succumbing to escalating costs and challenging market conditions. High street favorites in fashion and accessories have already faced collapse earlier this year. Data from law firm Shakespeare Martineau reveals that 1,631 UK businesses filed for administration in 2025. Recent additions to the list include a historic mattress producer, a popular juice brand, and a commercial construction firm.
Airsprung Mattress Group Faces Collapse
The long-standing bed and mattress manufacturer Airsprung has made 71 employees redundant after more than 150 years of operation. PwC administrators noted that directors had no choice but to initiate the process. They committed to supporting staff during this difficult period in the company’s history.
The firm has endured years of tough trading and recent cashflow shortages. Based in Trowbridge, Airsprung produces beds and mattresses supplied to hotels and sports stadium seating under brands like Gainsborough and Airofreem. Its products appear in stores such as Dunelm and Asda.
CEO and Director Tean Dallaway called the development “very sad and disappointing.”
Press Juice Brand Enters Administration
The health-focused food and drink company Press, known for juice cleanses, smoothies, meal plans, and nutritionist-approved soups, has also gone into administration. Its products featured in major supermarkets including Asda, Sainsbury’s, and Marks & Spencer.
Marco Piacquadio and Rachel Elizabeth Ennis of FTS Recovery Limited serve as administrators, as recorded by Companies House.
Companies House outlines administration as a legal process under the Insolvency Act 1986, aimed at rescuing viable businesses facing cashflow insolvency. An administrator, appointed by directors, creditors, or the court, manages the proceedings.
