Ben Stokes has been withdrawn from Durham’s County Championship match against Northamptonshire. The decision follows a request from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The England captain had been playing for his club this weekend. This appearance came after he was previously excluded from the second Test against New Zealand. That omission stemmed from an incident at a Chelsea nightclub earlier this month.
Stokes’ Performance and Team Changes
On Saturday, Stokes contributed significantly to Durham’s efforts to recover in the match. He scored 5 runs off a century, aiding his team as they trailed by 148 runs before the start of play on Sunday.
Stokes is anticipated to rejoin the England squad for the third Test, which is scheduled to commence on Thursday. Colin Ackermann will take his place in Durham’s starting eleven for the remainder of the match.
