Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, 74, has emerged from a medically induced coma following emergency intestinal surgery in Faro, Portugal. While no longer in a coma, the artist remains in intensive care and is described as “very unwell.”
Health Scare in the Algarve
Tyler was admitted to hospital last month after her appendix burst. Her health issues began earlier in March, with the singer first feeling unwell during a concert in London. The situation escalated to severe abdominal pain while she was in the Algarve region of Portugal, prompting immediate medical attention.
Slow but Steady Recovery
A spokesperson for the singer confirmed that her condition is gradually improving. While the recovery process is expected to be slow, medical professionals are reportedly confident in her long-term prognosis and anticipate a full recovery over time.
Tour Postponed
Due to these health concerns, Tyler’s planned 30-date tour, slated to begin in July, has been cancelled or postponed. Hopes remain that some performances may still be possible in the autumn.
Support and Gratitude
The acclaimed singer, known for her hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” is receiving support from her husband, Robert Sullivan, who is at her bedside. Her spokesperson also conveyed immense gratitude for the “huge outpouring of love and support” from fans during this challenging period.
