Joyful Family Announcement
Australian singer and actor Dean Geyer, 40, and his wife, US actress Jillian Murray, eagerly await their first child. Geyer shared the happy news on Instagram with a heartfelt photo capturing Murray cradling her baby bump while he stands behind her, arms wrapped around her in a loving embrace.
In the caption, Geyer reveals his lifelong dream of fatherhood. “Feeling beyond blessed that God has trusted us with this incredible gift,” he writes. “I’ve always dreamed of being a dad and I couldn’t be more excited to take this journey with @jillianmurrayofficial as we grow our little family.”
He playfully notes their pets’ new roles: “Lyric and Hazel better start practicing their big sibling skills. And let’s be honest, isn’t Jill gonna be such a fierce mama?”
Heartfelt Congratulations Pour In
The post quickly drew warm responses. Murray gushed, “You’re going to be the most incredible daddy. I can’t wait!”
Heartland actress Cindy Busby chimed in: “The hottest family ever! Congratulations you two! That baby is already so lucky!” Jamie-Lee Spears exclaimed, “Omg!!! Congrats!” while Broadway performer Laura Osnes added, “Beyond thrilled for both of you. Best news ever.”
One fan captured the widespread excitement: “I’m so, so, so beyond happy for you both! You are both going to make the most amazing parents!”
Dean’s Path to Stardom
Born in South Africa, Geyer gained prominence on the 2006 season of Australian Idol, finishing third behind Jessica Mauboy and winner Damien Leith.
He transitioned to acting, joining Neighbours in 2008 where he portrayed Ty Harper for a year alongside stars like Margot Robbie. In 2010, he debuted on the big screen in Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown.
Geyer’s major US breakthrough came in 2012 with the role of Brody Weston on Glee, playing the love interest to Lea Michele. He praised her as “one of my favourite co-stars that I have had the pleasure of working with. She is extremely hard-working and super fun to be around.”
“Her work ethic is so strong it forces you to always be on top of your game, and that’s something I looked forward to every day on set. I definitely learned a lot,” Geyer added. He felt instantly welcomed: “When jumping onto a hugely successful and established show like Glee, I went into it expecting to be known as the ‘new guy’ for at least a month, but that wasn’t the case at all. I almost immediately felt welcomed, and to be totally honest, out of everyone, Lea was the most friendly to me.”
Personal Milestones
Geyer and Murray married in September 2017 after dating since 2010. Murray stars in medical drama Code Black and MTV’s Awkward.
Previously, Geyer dated The Veronicas’ Lisa Origliasso starting in 2007. They announced their engagement in 2008 but ended the relationship three months later.
