A man has died after a tent ignited in a wooded area of St. Catharines, Ontario. Niagara Regional Police officers spotted a large blaze engulfing the tent during a routine patrol at around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday at Mountain Locks Park along Merritt Trail.
St. Catharines Fire Services quickly arrived on scene and put out the fire. However, the tent was already fully consumed by flames, according to Deputy Fire Chief Trevor Parker.
Investigation Launched
The Niagara Regional Police Service’s criminal investigations branch, together with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office, is examining the cause of the deadly fire.
