A 23-year-old woman, eight months pregnant with her son Jaxon, was discovered deceased in a Houston park, prompting a manhunt for her boyfriend charged with capital murder.
Ashanti Allen was last seen at her Houston home on April 8. Family members reported her missing on April 10 after receiving an unusual text message from her around 4 a.m. that read: ‘I am leaving, not coming back.’ Her mother, Trisa Gaines, who lives in the same apartment complex, grew concerned and checked the apartment. No one answered the door, so she obtained a key from management.
Discovery of the Empty Apartment
Inside, Gaines found the residence empty, with Allen’s packed hospital baby bag still by the door, along with baby clothes and other belongings untouched. Allen’s car was also missing. The family later spotted the vehicle being driven by an unidentified person who provided no information, leading them to alert authorities.
Body Found in Chimney Rock Park
On April 16, searchers located Allen’s body approximately six miles from her home at Chimney Rock Park near a creek. Video footage from the family shows a flattened path leading to the location. Her pregnancy was high-risk, and the official cause of death awaits autopsy results.
Suspect Identified and History of Abuse
Authorities have named 24-year-old Kevin Faux, Allen’s boyfriend, as the suspect in the deaths of Allen and their unborn son. He faces capital murder charges but remains at large. Records indicate Faux has a prior conviction for assaulting Allen in 2024, including an incident where he grabbed her by the neck, pinned her down, and slapped her. Another assault occurred in September 2025.
Family members later learned Allen had endured domestic abuse from Faux without informing them. Gaines stated, ‘I already knew she was gone, a mother knows.’ She added she was unsurprised by Faux’s identification as a suspect: ‘I knew all along that he did something to my child.’ Gaines also noted, ‘My daughter did not let me know what she was going through.’
Family Pleads for Awareness and Justice
Allen’s father, Edward Allen, urged others in troubled relationships to seek help: ‘I’m going to say it all over the nation, if something is going on with your relationship please let your momma, your daddy, your sister, your brother know because if we had any grip or any indication that something was going bad, we could’ve fixed it and she would still be here right now.’ He called on Faux to surrender.
Her brother, Xavier Gaines, vowed to honor her memory: ‘We love you, and we miss you, and we will never let your name die. We were there for you. I just wish you knew that.’
Sister Marché Peevy shared, ‘I just want you to know that I always love you and I’m going to remember you, till the day I die.’
The family has launched a fundraiser to cover funeral costs for Allen and Jaxon. Houston police continue the search for Faux.
