Katy Perry seeks good fortune by placing her credit card into Rome’s iconic Trevi Fountain. The 41-year-old singer shared a video on Instagram Sunday, capturing the playful moment during her trip to Italy.
Trevi Fountain Gesture
In the clip, Perry stands before the historic fountain wearing a grey hoodie. She sings, “Someone give me a penny,” before adding, “Y’all, I told you in ‘Save as Draft’ that I don’t f**k with change.” Referencing her Witness track lyric about flipping coins, she explains the need to toss something in for luck. Lacking coins, she briefly drops her credit card into the water but quickly retrieves it.
The Trevi Fountain, completed in 1762, attracts over 1,000 visitors hourly. Tourists traditionally toss coins to ensure return visits or good luck. Perry captions her post, “Just Rome’ing around,” alongside photos and videos from her journey.
Rome Trip Highlights
Perry performs a private concert Saturday at La Nuvola, showcasing toned arms and midriff in a glittering bandeau top and black silk pants. Her hair slicks back into a chic bun as she sings her 2010 hit “The One That Got Away.” Backstage photos capture her preparing with her crew.
She poses in front of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, dressed in a stylish black and white outfit. Playfully, she sings “Pope Leo, hallelujah,” nodding to the first American pontiff. Other shares include a FaceTime call with her five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, during a bath—covering her face with a shark emoji—and quirky items like an insect keychain and a marble bust.
Perry shares Daisy with ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom, 49. The couple splits in 2025 after seven years together. She currently dates former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 54.
Ongoing Sexual Assault Investigation
The lighthearted post arrives amid a police probe into sexual assault allegations from actress Ruby Rose, 40. Rose claims Perry assaulted her in 2010 at Melbourne’s Spice Market nightclub.
Victoria Police confirm an investigation. A spokesman states: “Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010. Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD. As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Perry vehemently denies the claims. Her representative declares: “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies. Ms Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
