Prominent radio personality Kyle Sandilands is reportedly open to a settlement with the Australian Radio Network (ARN), aiming to resolve his ongoing legal dispute with the company sooner rather than later. Sandilands, 55, is seeking a substantial payout from ARN, reportedly up to $88 million, to cover the remaining value of his terminated 10-year contract, which was initially valued at $100 million.

Sources close to the matter suggest that Sandilands may now be willing to accept a lower figure to avoid a protracted court process. It is understood that even if the case proceeds to trial in October as anticipated, a judgment is unlikely before early 2027. Furthermore, any decision in Sandilands’ favor could be subject to an appeal by ARN, potentially extending the legal proceedings for several more years.

Desire to Return to Airwaves

Insiders indicate that Sandilands is keen to conclude the legal fight swiftly so he can return to broadcasting, whether with ARN or by launching a new program. One of his core arguments in the legal challenge is reportedly the risk of fading from public relevance the longer he remains off the air as a public figure.

ARN’s Motivation for Settlement

For ARN, a publicly traded company, a swift resolution is also a priority. The ongoing legal dispute continues to pose a risk to the company’s share price, which experienced a significant drop following the axing of “The Kyle & Jackie O Show” in early March. The share price fell from 60 cents to a low of 18.5 cents in April before recovering to 39 cents.

A source stated, “The issue for ARN is that they’re a publicly traded company, so they need to sort it out. No one is going to invest in a company that has this hanging over their heads, and the shareholders want a settlement.”

Support for Former Staff

In related developments, Sandilands has personally undertaken to support several former staff members of “The Kyle & Jackie O Show” who were made redundant by ARN. He confirmed that content assistant Alfie Laguzza, audio producer Dean ‘Hulk’ Royston, and producer Eliza Brown have joined his media company, King Kyle.

Sandilands commented, “They’ve all just moved to my office down the road and seem happier. What people don’t seem to get is if you pull a thread and just keep tugging it, the entire structure collapses and you’re left with a pile of thread and not much else. I take care of my people, and I’ve got their backs.”

While Dean and Alfie are now working for Sandilands, Eliza is not currently involved. Alfie, who was already employed by Sandilands’ company, is expected to increase his hours.

An ARN spokesperson indicated that the company had made efforts to retain as many employees as possible after the conclusion of “The Kyle & Jackie O Show,” but acknowledged that a limited number of roles could not be accommodated elsewhere within the business.
