Netflix introduces a major redesign for its iPhone app, featuring a new vertical video feed called Clips. This update prioritizes simplicity and quick discovery, making it easier to find content to watch, listen to, or play.
Streamlined Navigation and New Tabs
The redesign expands the top navigation bar to include more options. The bottom tab bar sees significant changes, removing the ‘New & Hot’ tab and adding dedicated tabs for ‘Search’ and ‘Clips.’ These adjustments place key features front and center for a more intuitive mobile experience.
Clips: Personalized Vertical Video Feed
Clips represents the centerpiece of the update. Netflix describes it as “a personalized highlight reel that helps you decide what to watch or play next, without endless scrolling.”
Users gain several benefits from this feature:
- Add to My List: Quickly add movies and shows directly from the feed.
- Share: Share standout moments, twists, or recommendations via text or social media using the bottom arrow icon.
- Explore: Discover personalized entertainment options, such as family movies or comedies, to guide viewing choices.
Future Expansions for Clips
Netflix plans to expand Clips to include podcasts, live programming, and genre-based collections like romance or specific interests.
Global Rollout Begins
The updated iPhone app launches today in select countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and South Africa. A worldwide rollout follows in the coming months.
